Joan Kathey Dance Center has been a prominent member of the Leesville area for nearly 50 years. Nestled next to our sister community, Fort Polk, we have touched the lives of young dancers around the world.

Here at JKDC we pride ourselves in providing our young dancers with the skills, expertise, and knowledge of multiple forms of dance which will enable them to be their personal best. We strive to provide them with a professional experience through an excellent teaching staff and instill in them a sense of self worth and self efficacy.

All Ballet students must wear pink tights and pink ballet shoes - skirts are optional. Students requiring a bra must wear a flesh colored sports bra. Hair is to be worn in a bun - using hair pins and hair nets. Tights must be run and hole free. Each level is Required a different color leotard. These colors are as follows:

Kinderdance: YELLOW leotard purchased through Twinkle Toes Dancewear.

Primary: TEAL leotard purchased through Twinkle Toes Dancewear.

Elementary - Advance: BLACK leotard with optional ballet skirt.

Cecchetti: Black (no skirts allowed).

Company and Competition teams: BLACK leotard with black dance shorts.

Tap, Jazz, and Contemporary students: Any color leotard with black dance shorts (no Nike Pro shorts) with tan tights. All must have shoes specific for the class: tap- tap shoes; jazz- jazz shoes; and contemporary- contemporary shoes. Hair is to be worn in a ponytail or braid.

Hip Hop - Hip Hop students wear dance clothing suitable for movement. Hip Hop dance sneakers are required. Hair is to be worn in a ponytail or braid. Students are required to wear tights underneath dance shorts to class.

Gymnastics students: Gymnastic students must wear a biketard. Hair is to be worn in a pony tail or braid.  No shoes are worn in gymnastics class.

If a student has a tattoo, it must be covered during class and at ALL performances.

Hair must be normal color for ALL performances: blond, black, brown, or red are the only acceptable hair colors for stage.

Students not conforming to the dress code will be asked to observe class.

A registration fee is due upon enrollment at the studio.  This is a onetime non-refundable fee which is paid annually.  We offer a Family Rate for classes…PLEASE CALL OR EMAIL THE STUDIO FOR SPECIFIC PRICING INFORMATION.

Tuition is due by the 15th of the month.  A $15 late fee is added to late tuition payments after the 15th of the month.   

Recital Costume deposits are due by, October 17th, 2023.  Costumes will not be ordered for students with a negative balance on their account or unpaid deposits.  We order costumes the first week of November.

Recital fees are due March 4th, 2024  These fees help the studio cover the costs of professional lighting technicians, full glitter sets, janitorial fees associated with using the venue, etc.
